A ceremony was held on Sunday to mark the launch of a China Media Group documentary featuring the life story of renowned Chinese artist Li Kuchan.

Those attending the event included Fan Di'an, director of the National Art Museum of China, Li Yan, Li Kuchan's son and an art professor at Tsinghua University, Xu Li, executive vice chairman of China Artists Association and Liang Jianzeng, director of CMG's editorial board.

Li Kuchan was an art virtuoso and a distinguished teacher in arts, having devoted his life to charting a course for the modernization of Chinese paintings, Fan said.

Fan added that it is of great cultural significance to further promote his arts achievement, to study his creative spirit and carry forward his artistic heritage.

The documentary is based on the historical position of the new era and demonstrates the fruitful arts achievements and awe-inspiring spiritual strength of a generation of cultural giants, Liang said, adding that CMG will fully employ its position as the main force for propagating Chinese culture, keep exploring new ways and carry forward the new cultural missions of the new era.

Li, born in old China, had his heart filled with aspirations to resist foreign enemies and rejuvenate the Chinese nation since he was a young boy, Xu said, adding that he closely associated his personal destiny with that of the nation.

Li had a noble spirit, had no regard for life or death and dedicated himself to rigorous teaching, courageous innovation, selfless sacrifice and commissioning himself to protect the national interests, Xu said.
