Shanghai launched its inaugural carbon neutrality-themed exposition on Sunday. The landmark event, which runs through Wednesday, convenes nearly 600 global enterprises over a 100,000 square-meter exhibition area, spotlighting the green, low-carbon revolution. Here are the highlights:

Spearheading Carbon Neutrality Dialogues

The Shanghai International Carbon Neutrality Expo in Technologies, Products, and Achievements promotes vital international collaboration and societal transition towards green, low-carbon development.

Co-organized by the National Development and Reform Commission and the Shanghai Municipal Government, the Expo welcomed Fatih Birol, executive director of the International Energy Agency; Roland Roesch, deputy director of the International Renewable Energy Agency's Innovation Technology Center; along with respected Chinese academics He Kebin and Bao Xinhe. The event is set to release 10 enterprise case studies on green, low-carbon innovation as well as the Shanghai Low Carbon Statement.

Showcasing Innovation across Six Exhibition Zones

The Expo explores six key areas: energy conversion, energy efficiency, circular economy, low-carbon transportation, low-carbon services and best practices. Using a carbon neutrality technology map, attendees can quickly navigate around the technology and products showcased. Key events such as product launches and project signings will also take place.

Championing Sustainability through Practice

The Expo encourages exhibitors to adopt sustainable practices like paperless operation, recycling, green commuting, and carbon offsetting. It aims to minimize its carbon footprint and set a precedent for zero-carbon exhibitions.
