Two Chinese martyrs' cemeteries in Muong Sai and Namo have been renovated and reopened. A handover ceremony was recently held, with Chinese veterans and family members of the martyrs in attendance. At the request of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and the government in the 1960s and 1970s, over 100,000 Chinese soldiers and civilians joined the Lao people in their fight against Western hegemony. They also built over 800 kilometers of high-standard highway for Laos. According to an agreement signed at the ceremony, the Chinese side handed over the two cemeteries to the Lao side for maintenance and administration. Lao officials expressed their sincere thanks to and deep condolence for the Chinese martyrs. They said they appreciated the assistance given by the Chinese government in maintaining and repairing the martyrs' cemeteries.
