Xi'an City in northwest China's Shaanxi Province served as the capital for 13 dynasties in Chinese history. It was also the beginning of Zhang Qian's journey to Western regions via Central Asia in the Western Han Dynasty (202 BC-AD 25), with his envoy which eventually led to the opening of the Silk Road. CGTN takes you to the ancient city of Xi'an in northwest China's Shaanxi Province to explore Chang'an Tower, which stands at 99 meters along the bank of the Bahe River. It was erected in 2009 and modeled after architecture from the Sui and Tang dynasties (581-907).
