President of the Republic of Honduras Iris Xiomara Castro Sarmiento on Monday laid a wreath at the Monument to the People's Heroes at Tiananmen Square in Beijing.
Castro's first state visit started on June 9 after her country cut ties with Taiwan region and established formal diplomatic relations with China in March.
Beijing said Honduras' recognition of the one-China principle has opened a new era, and Castro's visit will chart the course for further growth of bilateral ties.
The Honduran president first arrived in the financial hub of Shanghai and visited a Huawei research center and the headquarters of the New Development Bank -– a project by the BRICS countries. She expressed hope that Honduras will achieve prosperity and development like Shanghai and said the country will strengthen cooperation with the eastern Chinese metropolis.
