The World Food Programme (WFP) is launching an appeal to international donors to help people in Haiti avoid starvation. With nearly half of the population facing acute hunger and malnutrition on the rise due to insecurity, violence, and worsening economic conditions, the WFP states that hunger has reached record levels in Haiti. Approximately 5 million people, or one out of every two Haitians, are facing acute food insecurity, surpassing similar crises in Somalia or Afghanistan.
