Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is in Beijing for a four-day state visit from June 13 to 16. President Abbas is the first Arab head of state hosted by China this year. His visit comes as the two sides mark 35 years of diplomatic relations. Osama Nazzal, director of Palestine International Broadcast at the Palestinian Broadcasting Corporation in Ramallah, joined us on Asia Today to share his thoughts on the visit. He said the visit is very important, as China's influence in the Middle East is growing. He expects the visit to achieve fruitful results and hopes China will play an important role in facilitating peace talks between Palestine and Israel.
