The 11th Capital University Dragon Boat Race was held on the Tonghui River in Beijing on June 11. More than 600 people from 45 teams, including 25 universities, participated in the competition. Peking University won first place in the regular group, and Minzu University of China came first in the professional group.
June 22 is this year's China's Dragon Boat Festival, whose origins date back to the Warring States Period (475-221 BC). It was included in the national intangible cultural heritage list in 2011.
Dragon boat racing is one of the important festival activities. People celebrate the festival to commemorate Qu Yuan, a patriotic poet from the Warring States Period.
