Canada is experiencing its worst wildfire season of the 21st century, said Bill Blair, minister of emergency preparedness, during a press conference on June 12. This year's fires have far exceeded estimates, with about 5.2 million hectares burned by June 12, according to the Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre (CIFFC).
