Fresh durians from Thailand entered the Chengdu-Chongqing area for the first time through the China-Laos Railway, marking closer business and trade cooperation between southwest China's key economic hub and Southeast Asian countries. The freight train carried 28 refrigerated containers filled with a wide selection of fruits, including durians and mangosteens. The so-called cold chain train was loaded and set off from the Laotian capital Vientiane on June 8 and entered China through the Mohan Port in the country's southwestern Yunnan Province. After reaching its final destination of Chongqing Municipality, the cargo will be transported to Chengdu City and surrounding areas for distribution. The China-Laos Railway connects Kunming in Yunnan Province with Vientiane in Laos. A landmark project of high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, the 1,035-km railway started operation on December 3, 2021.
