The Asian Games flame is ignited at the Archaeological Ruins of Liangzhu City on June 15 to begin the 100-day countdown to the Hangzhou Asian Games. Liangzhu, which means "isle of beauty in the midst of water" in Chinese, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with a rich cultural history dating back over 5,300 years. Its culture has played an essential role in shaping Chinese civilization and has been a source of inspiration for the design of the torch, mascots and venues for the Games.
