Stephen Brawer: Global Civilization Initiative builds bridges between cultures
03:18

The Forum on Global Human Rights Governance was held in Beijing on Wednesday, and guests from over 300 countries and international organizations attended the forum. Stephen Brawer, chairman of the Belt and Road Institute in Sweden, said in his speech that Western countries' demonizing of China is based on fear and ignorance of Chinese history. These countries are trapped in Hobbes' philosophy, which sees brute force to be the solution to problems, thus creating geopolitical conflicts, he said. In Brawer's view, humans need to build bridges to unite East and West, and the Global Civilization Initiative proposed by China can be that bridge.
