Officials from across Africa were in the southern Chinese city of Shenzhen this Friday and Saturday on the final leg of a business tour. The delegation visited two local companies on Saturday, to discover new opportunities for cooperation in the fields of telecommunication, artificial intelligence and healthcare.

China has been Africa's largest trading partner for 14 consecutive years, with $2 trillion in trade last year. Cooperation is expanding from traditional areas such as infrastructure and poverty relief, to new ones like digital connectivity, green energy and aerospace.

"We are aspiring to get to where China is," said Uganda's ambassador to China, Oliver Wonekha. "It took China 30 to 40 years. But China shows it's doable. And with this cooperation, we hope that we can get there too."
