Chinese shuttlers won the mixed doubles and women's singles titles at the Indonesia Open badminton tournament on Sunday.

Top seeds Zheng Siwei and Huang Yaqiong only needed 35 minutes to clinch their third title of the season, defeating Japan's Yuta Watanabe and Arisa Higashino 21-14, 21-10.

China's Chen Yufei later beat Spanish Carolina Marin 21-18, 21-19 in a hard-fought battle.

Marin, the Rio 2016 gold medalist and a three-time world champion, took early leads in both games. However, Chen, the reigning Olympic champion, fought back to clinch both games.

Chen won five points in a row at 16-18 in the first game and overtook the Spaniard twice in the following game when Marin was leading 16-10 and 19-18.

This was the first individual title for Chen this season, who wrapped up the 3-0 victory for Team China against Team South Korea at the Sudirman Cup last month.
