The 25th Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF), one of China's most prestigious movie industry events, celebrated its 30th anniversary with a grand opening on June 9, 2023. This year's event looks back at the legacy and innovation of the Chinese film industry and the quintessential role the city of Shanghai has played in illuminating the silver screen. 

Based on it, CGTN hit the streets in France to conduct a questionnaire survey in a bid to find out the French audience's taste in Chinese films and filmmakers. Some of them said they would like to see more Chinese filmmakers portraying and examining contemporary Chinese society, which is changing at an incredible speed. "I want to know how they built the country and how the country is developing," one resident said.
