Mahmoud Abbas, hailing from Safed in northern Palestine, experienced an early life of tranquility shattered by war in 1948. Forced to flee as a refugee to Syria, he worked as a child laborer, became a teacher, and earned a Ph.D. Engaged in the liberation movement, he witnessed the birth of the Oslo Accords. Rising from refugee to president, Abbas has dedicated his life to restoring the rights of the Palestinian people. Despite the challenges in the Palestine-Israel peace talks, his patience remains unwavering. "Today, we are still fighting to return to our homeland, aiming to establish an independent Palestinian state," he told CMG anchor Wang Guan in an exclusive interview.
