Malcolm Clarke: Interpreting China through documenting its people

Malcolm Clarke, a two-time Oscar winner for best short documentary, said that he hopes his documentaries on China will help Western audiences have a better idea of the country. 

The renowned British director made the remarks during an interview with CGTN, at the ongoing 28th Shanghai TV Festival, where his four-part documentary, "A Long Cherished Dream," has been nominated for the "Best Documentary Series." The documentary recorded the great changes China has witnessed over the years toward a well-off society from the perspective of ordinary people. 

He has made films in more than 80 countries over the last four decades. Since 2013, he has focused his lens on China.
