Quanzhou is known across China for its entrepreneurship prowess. Since the reform and opening up, overseas Chinese and compatriots from the city have donated more than 15.1 billion yuan to sustain the provincial economy. The first "Marine Silk Road" investment and trade conference, which was held in the city recently has not only helped attract prospective entrepreneurs, but also paved the way for several second and third-generation overseas Chinese from the city to connect with their roots.
