China's Ministry of Water Resources on June 19 activated a level-IV emergency response to flood risks in 10 provincial-level regions across the country. The ministry says to dispatch work teams to relevant regions, including east China's Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui and Jiangxi provinces as well as the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in the south, to guide flood prevention work. Local departments have been urged to take precautionary measures to ensure the safety of people's lives and property. China has a four-tier flood control emergency response system, with level I being the most severe response.
