Art lovers in Shanghai have been treated to work by the likes of Pablo Picasso, Fernand Leger, Marcel Duchamp, Man Ray and Jean Tinguely thanks to a China-France art partnership. "The Voice of Things" exhibition featured over 160 works ranging from the early 20th century avant-garde to recent pieces that address issues about globalization. The exhibition was the result of a partnership between Shanghai’s West Bund Museum and the Centre Pompidou in Paris. Taking its name from the anthology "Le Parti Pris des choses" by French poet Francis Ponge (1899-1988), the exhibition offered a range of works by artists including painters, writers, sculptors, directors and architects. The West Bund Museum and Centre Pompidou will continue to present and update exhibitions within the agreements of their collaborative project, while offering art education activities. The exhibition "Painting the Essential – Surrealism and the East" has subsequently opened in Shanghai, and will run until September 24.
