The 2023 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) Maritime Dragon Boat Race kicked off in Nan'ao Subdistrict of south China's Shenzhen City on Tuesday. A total of 29 teams from 11 cities in the GBA, including Hong Kong and Macao, will compete in 500-meter courses during the two-day race.

The dragon boat race on the sea differs from the traditional race on the river because of the influence of tides. With a history of over 100 years, the Shenzhen Nan'ao Dragon Boat Race has developed from a folk activity into a hallmark event in the GBA.
