The Lanzhou Yellow River Iron Bridge is the first permanent bridge built over the Yellow River in Lanzhou City, Gansu Province. It was designed by an American architectural company and built by Chinese workers using German technology in 1908. Opened in 1909, the bridge combined international bridge design with contemporary technology to create a timeless architectural work with historical value. As a landmark of the city, it was renamed the Zhongshan Bridge in 1928 to honor Sun Yat-sen, a renowned statesman who led the revolution that ended imperial rule in China.
