In 1989, China Children and Teenagers' Fund (CCTF) initiated the Spring Bud Project, which symbolizes disadvantaged girls as buddings that can rekindle hope and thrive with better education and knowledge. It initially aimed to help out-of-school girls from poverty-hit areas to get access to schooling and promote gender equality in education in China. The project had provided 4.09 million services to the girls from across the country by the end of 2022. It has not only transformed the life of the girls and their families, but also improved rural women's education and social status.
