Recently, the rangers of Guangxi Chongzuo Longgang National Nature Reserve found a plant with orange-red color during their daily patrol. At the time of discovery, the plant was in full bloom. During the follow-up monitoring, four more similar plants were recorded within less than 500 meters of the vicinity. Later, the plant was identified by plant experts as Firmiana colorata, a wild plant protected at the national level in China.
Firmiana colorata is an endemic plant in China, flowering in June-July every year, with luxuriant flowers and bright colors, just like a string of firecrackers hanging all over the branch tips, which has high scientific research and ornamental value.
Due to its biological characteristics as well as natural and anthropogenic factors, the distribution area of Firmiana colorata is very narrow, found only in Baise, Chongzuo, Hechi and Laibin of Guangxi.
