The tenth solar term on the traditional Chinese calendar, Xiazhi (夏至 xià zhì), or the Summer Solstice, begins on June 21st this year. On this day, the sun reaches the celestial longitude of 90 degrees, marking the longest day and shortest night of the year in the Northern Hemisphere.
