Resembling a flowering blossom on a hilltop, the Nanning International Convention and Exhibition Center is now a prominent landmark in Guangxi. Built between 1999 and 2003, the 90,000-square meter exhibition facility was designed by German architects Meinhard von Gerkan and Nikolaus Goetze of von Gerkan, Marg and Partner Architects. Considered one of the most influential German architects, Von Gerkan's commitment led to the completion over 170 projects in China prior to his death in Hamburg in November 2022. Today, the 70-meter-high dome of the center leaves an indelible impression on the Nanning skyline.
