China ended their Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U-17 Asian Cup campaign on Thursday after a 3-0 defeat to Saudi Arabia in Chonburi, Thailand.

China, which clinched titles of the tournament in 1992 and 2004, retained a slim hope of qualifying for the next round this year after a 1-1 draw against Tajikistan and a 5-3 defeat against Australia.

Goals from Mohammed Al Muwallad, Nawaf Al Bishri, and Amar Al Yuhaybi sealed Saudi Arabia's 3-0 victory over China.

With three wins in three matches, Saudi Arabia, which topped Group C, ended their group stage without a loss.

China made several substitutions early in the second half, but players were unable to find a goal.

Japan, India, Vietnam, and Uzbekistan will fight for the last two berths in the quarterfinals.

Confirmed teams for the quarterfinals are Iran, Yemen, Thailand, South Korea, Saudi Arabia and Australia.

The ongoing 2023 AFC U-17 Asian Cup is talking place from June 15 to July 2 in four cities in Thailand.
