A test train running on a new high-speed railway line between Indonesia's capital Jakarta and the central Javanese city of Bandung hit its design speed of 350 kilometers per hour for the first time during commissioning and testing trials. Since commissioning and testing began in May this year, the train has gradually increased its speed from 180 km per hour to the design speed of 350 km per hour, confirming the functionality and performance of the railway systems, including track, power supply, overhead catenary system, communication, signaling and early warning monitoring. A landmark project under the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative, the 142.3-kilometer-long railway will cut the journey between Jakarta and Bandung from over three hours to around 40 minutes.
