China on Monday welcomed the decision by Fiji to correct an office name of the Taiwan region, hailing the move for speaking volumes about the commitment to the one-China principle by the international community.

Fiji's government recently changed the name of the Taiwan region's office in the Pacific island nation into "Taipei Trade Office in Fiji" and stripped the office of so-called "diplomatic privileges."

Mao Ning, spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, said the Chinese side welcomed the decision by the Fijian government, praising its commitment to the one-China principle.

"This reflects the unshakable landscape in the international community where there is a universal adherence to the one-China principle and shows, once again, that any attempt to create 'two Chinas' or 'one China, one Taiwan' will not succeed," she said.
