Chinese Premier Li Qiang told the visiting Prime Minister of Vietnam Pham Minh Chinh in Beijing on Monday that China is ready to make the pie of bilateral cooperation bigger and bigger.

Noting that this year marks the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the China-Vietnam comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, Li said the development of bilateral relations has maintained good momentum.

China is willing to foster greater strategic synergy with Vietnam and promote joint high-quality construction of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), he said.

Li stressed that China is committed to managing differences with Vietnam through dialogue and consultations, promoting practical maritime cooperation, accelerating consultations on the Code of Conduct in the South China Sea, and avoiding taking actions that could complicate the issue.

The Vietnamese prime minister said his country adheres to the one-China policy, supports the BRI and the Global Development Initiative, and is willing to deepen cooperation with China in various fields, as well as manage differences and achieve common prosperity.

After the talks, the two leaders witnessed the signing of a number of bilateral cooperation documents, including one on maritime cooperation.

Li hosted a welcome ceremony for the Vietnamese prime minister at the Great Hall of the People prior to the talks.
