Local artists staged a heroic song and dance performance known as Yingge dance in Dongguan City, Guangdong Province. It is a traditional form of Chinese folk dance that originated in Guangdong during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). As one of the most representative forms of folk art, it combines drama and dance with martial arts. Performers dress up as the legendary heroes of Liangshan, brandishing small sticks as they sing and dance to the brisk tempo of drums and tambourines.
