Ailao Mountains Series: Story behind the scenes
CGTN
05:23

The documentary crew traveled a long distance to film the green peafowl, an incredibly rare and alert species in southwest China's Yunnan Province. It is never easy to film wild creatures in a massive dense forest; the crew must not only transport the heavy load of equipment along the uneven mountain routes, but they must also deal with unexpected injury. Nothing, however, will beat the team's anguish at not seeing the bird after days of patience-eating hide out. Check out this episode to learn about the backstories.
