On June 28, the rotor of the last hydroelectric turbine generating unit for the Guangxi Dateng Gorge water conservancy project was hoisted into place in Guiping City, south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It is a landmark infrastructure of the country's 172 major water-saving and water-supply projects. The 1.6-million-kilowatt project with eight power-generating units is expected to generate 6.055 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually upon completion.
