Bus and tram services in and around Paris will be halted after 9:00 p.m. (1900 GMT) Thursday amid expected protests over the police killing of a teenager, the region's president said.

After several trams and buses were targeted at Wednesday's protests sparked by the 17-year-old's death, the decision was made "to ensure the protection of staff and passengers," Valerie Pecresse said on Twitter.
