As globalization continues to encounter resistance, it is more crucial than ever to engage with one another, said Borge Brende, president of the World Economic Forum at the closing ceremony of the 14th Annual Meeting of the New Champions, also known as the "Summer Davos," on Thursday.
About 1,500 participants from business, government, international organizations, and academia attended the three-day event held in north China's Tianjin Municipality.
This year's event took place amid a range of global challenges, including slowing growth, debt risks, climate change and wealth gaps. Participants gathered insights and advanced 25 initiatives on many significant topics including artificial intelligence, green transformation and climate change.
In addition, China's economic development was one of the key topics discussed by the participants.
Brende said that China is expected to contribute 36 percent to global economic growth, and the country will play a significant role in the process of global economic recovery.
At the closing ceremony, it was announced that the 15th "Summer Davos" will be held in Dalian, Liaoning Province in northeast China. Chen Shaowang, mayor of Dalian, said that the city will be prepared for a distinctive and wonderful forum next year.
