1. A pika is a tailless, egg-shaped and short-legged mammal, related to the rabbit, not a rodent despite some similarities in their looks. Central Asia is one of the pika's primary residencies, in addition to China and Northern America.

2. Camels are nicknamed "ships of the desert" for their extraordinary ability to adapt to the extremely dry environment. Domestication of camels dates back to about 3,000 BC around the Middle East and North Africa.

3. Swallows are often hailed as the "heralds of spring." They can travel thousands of kilometers before showing up on time in the vernal freshness of the land. Swallows make home in most parts of the world except for some remote islands and the coldest regions.

4. The elephant is the biggest land mammal on Earth. Its trunk, boasting both strength and maneuverability, can undertake tasks from sucking water and picking up objects to sounding warnings or greetings to other elephants. And one of its tusks' purposes is to protect the trunk, among others such as gathering food and digging to find water.

5. Dolphins are whales – toothed whales, to be more specific. Apart from being famously friendly and playful with humans, dolphins are also well-known for their intelligence. Bottlenose dolphins, for example, can recognize themselves in the mirror, which indicates a degree of self-awareness, a capability that's rarely discovered outside the world of higher primates.
