01:03

China's philosophical tradition, including the teachings of Confucius and Taoism, have long emphasized the importance of harmony, social order and nonviolence. In CGTN's special report "The Flame of Civilization," Prof. Daniel Bell of the University of Hong Kong mentioned "Exemplary persons should value harmony but not uniformity," one of the most famous expressions from the Analects of Confucius. He said the idea here is that to have a harmonious society means having peaceful order but also means respecting diversity.
