Manchester United and Chelsea have reached an agreement over the transfer of English midfielder Mason Mount, who will join the Red Devils for 60 million pounds (about $75.8 million), including 55 million (about $69.5 million) as an initial fee and the remaining five million (about $6.3 million) in add-ons, according to ESPN.
Mount, who is currently on vocation, will take his medical with United next week. Mount's number of appearances and performance at United will decide if Chelsea will receive the add-ons.
As a product of Chelsea's own academy, Mount, 24, was in the final year of his contract with the club. This meant Chelsea had to choose between either selling him for a fee this summer or letting him leave for nothing as a free agent in a year's time.

As per reports, Chelsea initially wanted 70 million pounds (about $88.4 million) for Mount. United bid 40 million (about $50.5 million), 50 million (about $63.1 million) and 55 million pounds (about $69.5 million) before all of them were rejected by the Blues.
Having played 195 games for Chelsea’s first team in four seasons, Mount scored 33 goals and 37 assists for the club and won the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup in 2021. He will become the first signing of this summer for United's manager Erik ten Hag. The Red Devils are reportedly also searching for a center forward and possibly a starting goalkeeper.
Chelsea had a disastrous 2022-23 season in spite of the 488 million pounds (about $615.9 million) they spent on transfers during the two transfer windows. In order to unburden their swollen lineup and fund new transfers, the club sold multiple players in June, including Kai Havertz to Arsenal for 65 million pounds (about $82 million), Mateo Kovacic to Manchester City for 30 million pounds (about $37.9 million), Kalidou Koulibaly to Al-Hilal for 17 million pounds (about $21.5 million) and Edouard Mendy to Al-Ahli for 16 million pounds (about $20.2 million). N'Golo Kante joined Al-Ittihad Club as a free agent.
