From Saturday, July 1, a new high-speed rail will start to operate in the province of Qinghai with plans to further connect the mountainous region of Xizang. The trains have been modified to withstand travel at high altitudes and in low temperatures. The engineer who oversaw the modifications to enable this high speed travel — Wang Qingan told CGTN that Increasing speed is not just about faster trains, but also about modifications to the foundation, the tracks, bridges, the overhead lines and even communication systems.
