A record nine players from the Chinese mainland will compete in this year's Wimbledon Championships between July 3 and 16, including two in the men's singles event and seven in the women's singles event.

Bai Zhuoxuan, 20, will make her Grand Slam debut in the women's singles event at Wimbledon after winning three straight qualifying matches. She beat Anna Brogan of Britain 6-3 and 6-0 in her latest victory on Thursday.

"It has been my dream to play in the Grand Slam tournament," Bai said. "Now it came true. I feel so happy."

Yuan Yue also went through the Wimbledon qualifying matches, coming back to defeat Brenda Fruhvirtova of the Czech Republic 3-6, 6-4 and 6-3 on Thursday. This will be Yuan's second trip to the tournament. She lost to Amanda Anisimova of the United States in the women's singles first-round match last year.

Zheng Qinwen is the only seeded player (women's singles No. 24) from the Chinese mainland in Wimbledon this year. In her first tournament at the All England Club in 2022, she advanced to the third round after knocking out Sloane Stephens of the U.S. and Greet Minnen of Belgium.

Thirty-four-year-old veteran Zhang Shuai will target setting a new best record in the Grand Slam tournaments. She reached the women's singles quarterfinals in both the Australian Open (2016) and Wimbledon (2019).

Zhu Lin missed Wimbledon in 2022. The last time she competed at the All England Club in 2021, she defeated Mona Barthel of Germany 6(2)-7(7), 6-3 and 6-3 in the women's singles first round. Her best record in the Grand Slam tournaments is going to the second round.

Both Wang XInyu and Wang Xiyu will aim for going through the women's singles first round in Wimbledon this year. Wang Xinyu's best record in the Grand Slam competitions was reaching the third round in the French Open in June. Wang Xiyu went all the way to the third round in the U.S. Open in 2022.

Wu Yibing and Zhang Zhizhen will seek to break through the men's singles first round in Wimbledon this time. Zhang Zhizhen set his Grand Slam best record by reaching the third round in the French Open this year. Wu advanced to the third round in the U.S. Open in 2022.
