Chinese civilization is regarded as the only continuous civilization in the world today. Relics, language, artifacts and ideas are all evidence of the oldest civilization in the world still in existence. In CGTN's special report "The Flame of Civilization," Professor Colin Renfrew of Cambridge University pointed out that the discovery of Liangzhu site made us realize that the Chinese civilization started about 1,000 years earlier than the West previously thought. He said the Liangzhu civilization mysteriously disappeared after thriving for at least hundreds of years in the Yangtze River Basin. But its culture didn't stop there. Its jadework had a lasting influence on ritual objects in later periods of Chinese history.
