The French government has deployed 45,000 police officers to contain ongoing riots over a teenager's fatal shooting by an officer during a traffic stop. More than 200 police were injured on the evening of June 28, and more than 900 people were arrested, according to French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin. The unrest was sparked by the killing of 17-year-old Nahel M, which revived longstanding grievances about policing and racial profiling in France's low-income and multi-ethnic suburbs.
