Every winter, residents of Lu'an, Anhui Province, witness the migration of birds in the wetland and forest area of Dabie Mountains. Some of the migratory birds are under first-class national protection in China. White cranes, eagles, and other large birds have been spotted here. With the continual improvement of the ecological environment and the growing awareness of bird protection among locals, Lu'an has become a transit station for an increasing number of southbound migratory birds.
