The opening ceremony of a global roadshow by China Media Group (CMG) was held on Thursday at the United Nations headquarters in New York City.

Attendees at the exhibition, dubbed "Journey Through Civilizations," included Miguel Angel Moratinos, the UN High-Representative for the Alliance of Civilizations; Xu Haoliang, a UN Assistant Secretary-General; and Zhang Jun, the Chinese Ambassador to the UN.

In a video address to the event, Shen Haixiong, president of CMG, stated that the Chinese people are striving to build a modern Chinese civilization. Through immersive and digital technological innovations, overseas audiences will be able to immerse themselves in a scroll of time spanning ancient and modern times, experiencing the early stages of Chinese civilization and appreciating the source of its "5,000 years of history," Shen said.

Moratinos mentioned that the decomposition of the word "civilization" in Chinese (文明) provides great inspiration, indicating that the concept of civilization encompasses not only individual identity and cultural groups but also represents the enlightenment brought by the collective creativity of humanity in solving social problems.

To create a better world, Moratinos emphasized the need to enhance understanding among different civilizations, partners, and identities. He added that the UN needs to embrace the Global Civilization Initiative.

Ambassador Zhang stated that the exhibition digitally restored ancient Chinese cultural sites, such as the Liangzhu culture, allowing visitors to experience 5,000 years of Chinese history and culture through interactive exchanges.

The ambassador also highlighted that holding the exhibition at the UN headquarters demonstrates China's strong support for cultural diversity and the UN's work.
