Congolese ambassador: China to help DRC-made products' global exports
02:02

The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) is one of the eight guest countries-of-honor at the third China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo, which will conclude on July 2 in Changsha. DRC is home to the world's largest reserves of cobalt – a critical component for lithium batteries – where Chinese companies have a major stake. Talks are underway to overhaul a $6 billion agreement where the DRC seeks to boost its control over the precious metal. Congolese ambassador Francois Nkuna Balumuene recently spoke to CGTN about exports of the precious metal as well as China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative.
