At 8:48 a.m. on Saturday, train G2963 started slowly from Chengdu East Railway Station, marking the official debut of the cross-border G train from southwest China's Chengdu City to West Kowloon in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR). On the same day, the HKSAR marked the 26th anniversary of its return to the motherland. The total travel time will be around 10 hours. Passengers can get on the train at any stop along the route and commence customs checks at the West Kowloon Station.
