A SpaceX Dragon cargo spacecraft returned to Earth with scientific hardware and samples on June 30, NASA said in a blog on Friday.

The spacecraft was launched on June 5 on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Launch Complex 39A at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Departing from the International Space Station (ISS) on Thursday, the spacecraft that carried about 3,600 pounds (1,633 kilograms) of scientific experiments and other cargo made a parachute-assisted splashdown off the coast of Florida.

According to NASA, the scientific hardware and samples returning on the mission are from experiments including GRIP, which studies how microgravity affects the manipulation of objects, and GRASP, which provides further insight into how the central nervous system adapts to the microgravity environment.

The experiments have been on the ISS for almost six years, and the final in-orbit tests were completed in early 2023, said NASA, adding that samples from BioNutrients-2, Monoclonal Antibodies and Myotones investigations are also returning to Earth for scientific analysis.

The Friday splashdown marked the return of SpaceX's 28th contracted cargo resupply mission to the ISS for NASA.
