As the second largest contributor to the regular budget of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, China will continue to actively support the FAO's work, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said on Monday.
At a daily press briefing, noting that Chinese candidate and incumbent FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu won another term with 168 votes at the 43rd session of the FAO Conference held on Sunday in Rome, Italy, Wang said China congratulates Qu on his re-election.
"We believe that under the leadership of Director-General Qu, the FAO will make new contributions to improving global food and agriculture governance and implementing the UN's 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development," Wang said.
