Russia will stand up against Western sanctions and "provocations," President Vladimir Putin told the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit on Tuesday, saying that a hybrid war is being waged against Russia.

Putin said Moscow planned to boost ties with the group and supported the transition to settlements in local currencies in foreign trade.

He also warned that the potential for conflicts and the risk of a global economic crisis were on the rise amid the uncontrolled accumulation of debts by developed countries.

In the speech, the Russian president also touched on the brief mutiny last month, saying that the Russians acted as a united front. He also thanked the SCO countries for supporting the Russian leadership in its handling of the mutiny.
