Born in 1958 in Shanghai, Chinese artist Wang Jiafang is one of the country's leading practitioners of ink wash painting. He has witnessed the fast pace of change in metropolitan Shanghai over the past five decades, which has seen him complete many large-scale Shanghai-themed paintings in recent years, marking a breakthrough for him in recording the city through traditional Chinese painting. From his well-known painting "Shanghai" to "Pudong," Wang is turning his love for his hometown into a series of art pieces through his brush.
